Sunset Coast Trail receives funding boost

Recreation trails across Western Australia have been supported with $1million in Lotterywest grants.

The program offers grants from $25,000 up to $100,000 to support the planning, construction, upgrade and promotion of various types of trails including walking, cycling, horse riding and paddling routes.

Sport and Recreation Minister Terry Waldron said the grants were a vital source of support for trails which provided health and cultural benefits to West Australians.

“Our State’s trails are a key part of community access to sport, recreation and adventure,” Mr Waldron said.

Albert Jacob was pleased by the announcement that the City of Joondalup will receive $25,350 towards signage on the popular Sunset Coast Trail.

The Sunset Coast Trail covers much of the electorate of Ocean Reef and is a popular activity amongst the community, Mr Jacob said.

“This funding will meet a range of information and way finding requirements for trail users.”
