Albert Jacob was elected as the inaugural member for the Western Australian (State) seat of Ocean Reef on the 6th of September, 2008.
Electorate of
Ocean Reef

He initially grew up in rural Wanneroo where his parents were small business owners, running a successful machine tools business that mainly serviced the mining industry
Albert studied and worked as an Horticulturalist for several years before choosing to study Architecture as a mature age student. He has completed a Bachelor of Environmental Design at the University of Western Australia. It was during this time Albert realised that if he wanted to see his community change for the better, then he needed to stand up to effect that change. This motivated him to successfully stand for Joondalup City Council in the North Central Ward where he was honoured to serve for nearly three years before being elected to State Parliament.
At 28, he was the youngest member of the thirty-eighth Parliament and the youngest Liberal elected to the Western Australia Parliament in over 50 years.
In addition to being a local elected member, for the past 3 years Albert has also served as Deputy Chair and now Chair on the Joondalup Health Campus Community Board of Advice, the hospital where his wife works as a Nurse on the Critical Care unit.
Albert is also Vice Patron of Surf Lifesaving WA as well as of his local club Mullaloo Surf Lifesaving Club where he serves as a Bronze Medallion Patrolling member. Alberts other committee and community activities include Chairing the Tamala Park Coastal Reserve Community Advisory Committee and serving as a local Justice of the Peace. He was the inaugural Deputy Chair of the Ocean Reef Marina Committee and is now also the Deputy Chair of the Community Development and Justice Parliamentary Standing Committee.
I am a strong supporter of the Marina project. Whilst serving as a Joondalup City Councillor I worked very hard in my capacity as the Deputy Chair of the Ocean Reef Marina Committee to finally get this project underway.
While driven by the City of Joondalup, this project will still benefit from the support of a strong, passionate advocate at a State Government level. I remain committed to the Ocean Reef Marina project and will continue to help see this development become a reality.
The survey conducted recently by the City of Joondalup has revealed the tremendous public support that exists for developing the Ocean Reef Boat Harbour. Building on my Council experience and architectural background, I will continue to work proactively with the City and the community to ensure that we build the Marina we have all been waiting for.
